The Definitive Disney/Pixar Tournament: The Play-In Results

Hey! So you voted for the final four entrants into the bracket and we have the results for you! We’re not going to belabor the point with some big introduction here, just read on to see who won, and then follow us on Instagram or subscribe at the bottom of the page for the big bracket reveal!

Clash of the Concerts:
FANTASIA (1940) vs. FANTASIA 2000 (1999)

Results: Fantasia - 21 (87.5%), Fantasia 2000 - 3 (12.5%)

It’s a common adage in movies that the original is always the best, and here you agreed with that idea — those freaky brooms swept the floor with Fantasia 2000 as Mickey and the original “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” move on to the big bracket.

Winner: FANTASIA (1940)

Skirmish of the Sequels:
CARS 3 (2017) vs. RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET (2018)

Results: Cars 3 - 6 (33.3%), Ralph Breaks the Internet - 18 (66.7%)

Wreck-It Ralph went turbo on Lightning McQueen and the Cars gang, eliminating it before it could even start the race. He, Penelope, and the rest of the sequel squad will join the original film in the tournament!

Winner: RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET (2018)

Duel for the Dark Ages:
THE RESCUERS (1977) vs. ROBIN HOOD (1973)

Results: The Rescuers - 9 (37.5%), Robin Hood - 15 (62.5%)

Unfortunately for The Rescuers, the voting audience sentenced it to a sudden, instant, and even immediate death. Maybe next bracket.

Winner: ROBIN HOOD (1973)

Melee for the Modern Day:
TURNING RED (2022) vs. RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON (2021)

Results: Turning Red - 15 (60.0%), Raya and the Last Dragon - 10 (40.0%)

Despite the fact that it’s only been out for less than two months, Turning Red fights its way into the contest, turning Raya to stone in the process.

Winner: TURNING RED (2022)

So that’s it for now! You chose Fantasia, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Robin Hood, and Turning Red as your choices to fill out the bracket. Thank you again to everyone who voted and we hope you’ll keep on voting as we move forward! The final 64 movies are set, and the next time you hear from us, it will be for the full-fledged bracket reveal!
